TPON High King Reports on LionCon Day 1
July 6, 2008
ur High King, Rem de Leon, has posted a personal report of his LionCon 2008 visit via TPON's Multiply Blog. Here is as follows:
I'd been pretty depressed to discover that when Buena Vista/Columbia pictures delayed the release of Prince Caspian in the Philippines, I would not be able to go to our group screening of the latest Narnia movie.
The Philippine Order of Narnians was going to watch the movie together on the first Saturday of its release, but I, the group's founder, would already be in the US and away from the CS Lewis fan community.
But I suppose the great Lion had something else in mind, because at about the same time as they were watching the movie in the Philippines, I got a call from my cousine Louise: Would I be interested in going to LionCon? Read more...

Narnia Costume Exhibit in Trinoma Mall
May 27, 2008

rinoma Mall, located in the North part of Quezon City, exhibits authentic costumes of Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian on its cinema level. The exhibit in the said mall will be open up to June 1, then it will be transferred to Glorietta and will run from June 2 to 8.
Photo-ops in the Trinoma will be on May 31. Gushi, a Filipino Narnian who reported the exhibit to us commented:
They have a Prince Caspian exhibit in the main lobby of the cinemas. According to the poster, it supposedly shows off authentic armor and costumes from the movie, but when I went there, the only costume on display was King Miraz's full armor and
Trumpkin's axe, authentically made by WETA :D There's also a TV showing already released behind-the-scenes videos on the movie.
Exhibit's worth checking out, especially for you costumers out there! The chain mail, sword and axe is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS :D:D:D
A Filipino Narnian at El Capitan Theater Caspian Premiere
May 19, 2008
om or "Caspian X", a TPON member, has updated us on his trip to the California El Capitan Theater to witness the California Lion Party screening of Prince Caspian!
He says:
I have returned from the big California Lion Party screening of
Prince Caspian at the El Capitan and I must say, it's certainly
something a LOT more amazing than ANY premiere I've seen back home!
The theater was entirely made up as the Strand Underground Station in
London from the movie, while the area below showcased the actual
props from the movie. It was incredibly impressive and I found myself
wishing and hoping that the Philippine premiere is just as good and
well done.
We were regaled by a live organist playing Disney theme music while
we waited. There was a short introductory speech by a Disney exec,
then the lights dimmed and the painted Narnia screen was slowly
highlighted. Then Caspian himself (not Ben Barnes of course) came out
and did some sword twirling (and I was thinking I could do that!) and
raised his sword in salute to Narnia (the Narnia sign highlighted)
and then with popping explosions confetti burst upon us like rain!
Then the movie started.
I must say I was much more enthralled by this one - I think it might
have been better that I held off re-reading the novel before I saw
the movie so I could enjoy it as a stand alone work. I could see what
Adamson and Gresham were getting at and I think it worked for me. I
don't know... more than LWW (except for the scenes with Aslan w/c
were powerful enough for me) this one made me FEEL - salutes to the
young cast who have really grown into their characters since we last
saw them. Though I must say... Susan did sometimes come across as the
female counterpart of Legolas. Nuff said.
A more detailed review shall be forthcoming but now I got to catch my
breath and get out of this armour!
.... Please, please, PLEASE dress up, try
and have a little role play if there will be cosplayers playing the
cast - I'm really wishing I could whisk back there just to play
Caspian hehehe - oh, and whoever plays Edmund - DON'T FORGET YOUR
METAL FLASHLIGHT/aka TORCH!!

TPON Holds a Private Screening of the LWW Extended Edition
May 15, 2008
o help tide you over in your excitement to see the latest Narnia film releasing on June 4, the Philippine Order of Narnians is coming up with a little event on the weekend Caspian was supposed to be released in.
At 2:00 to 5:00 PM on MAY 17, TPON will be showing the EXTENDED EDITION of
the first film, The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe at MOSAIC LOUNGE
in Greenbelt 1, Makati.
This extended version of the film, which has scenes put back in it
where director Andrew Adamson cut it to shorten the theatrical
release, has never been released in the Philippines, and even in the
US was only a limited release. So this, folks, is going to be a rare
opportunity.
Mosaic Lounge is at the third floor of Greenbelt One, Ayala.

A Filipino Narnian Meets Up with Douglas Gresham!
May 11, 2008
ayen, a dear member of the Philippine Order of Narnians, together with her husband Steve, met up with Douglas Gresham and his wife last May 9th, at the New York flight going to London. It so happened that Douglas Gresham, C.S. Lewis' stepson, just came from the New York premiere of Prince Caspian, which he says, was a total success.
Here's an account of the story:
Steve and i were on our way from NY to London, and they were on the same flight. Of course, they were on first class. We were at the dulo. And we're not allowed sa harap, right? So we thought we won't be able to talk to them longer. After the 7-hour flight, we arrived in Heathrow airport, got out of the plane and they were at a hallway waiting for us! Wasn't that sweet? So we chatted for a bit. He said they came from Prince Caspian NY premiere which was a success. They were on their way back home. Then they are going to be back here (in London) for the June 5 London premiere. We'll ask for a ticket. hehehe. If we get to go to his home before June, we'll let you know. That's all my kuwento for now. Hehehe.
Mayen sent us a picture.

Prince Caspian? A success? GOOD news indeed!
Prince Caspian will be released in the Philippines on June 4
May 1, 2008
ike most of the world, Filipinos have been waiting for Prince Caspian to come to the big screen. But now it looks like we "Pinoys" are going to have to wait a month longer.
For a while now, word has been going out that Caspian has not been slated for release in the Philippines until June. It took us a while but one of us finally got on the phone with the local distributors, and the rumor has been confirmed.
Unofficial sources say the distributors are concerned that Indiana Jones is coming out in May and, that, with its strong following in the Philippines, it might drown out Narnia.
Local cinemas were not yet able to give a definite date for the release, but have been told to say it would be coming "some time in June" (unconfirmed sources say June 4).
So... Narnia fans in the Philippines are going to have to learn a month's worth of lessons in patience.
We'll try to get word to you guys as soon as we know more.

Everything You Know is About to Change Forever.
February 21, 2008
nother Prince Caspian poster has been released, with the tagline "Everything you know is about to change forever," which was the same line uttered by Aslan in the Prince Caspian teaser trailer. You can download the poster by clicking it below.

If you look closely at the poster, you'll see on the lower right a small furry figure holding a sword pointed toward the sea. It's none other than the most valiant mice in the whole of Narnia!
Prince Caspian is only three months away! :)
